Aldous Estate Mastering

Aldous Estate Mastering is the most recent leg of a journey Claude started over two decades ago to help musicians working outside of the mainstream make recordings that represent their vision and be better prepared to "get the word out".

Mastering is the “final polish” a recording receives prior to release on its intended format, be it a streaming service or physical media.  The usual pitch for mastering services involves "putting one's best foot forward", polishing the work's presentation to attempt to manage first impressions, but the real story is about optimization and balance.  Realistically, many clients will have recorded and mixed their own work and may be looking for a fresh set of ears to bring to a valued project.  A little space before rediscovering when auditioning the masters.

From years of playing and performing a variety of different kinds of music, studying electronic music composition, having a college radio show, being a record store clerk, running a recording studio, starting a record label (that broke even), touring, publishing a music zine, and releasing music on cutting edge labels overseas, I’ve never been too far from the sounds in my head, and I know what it means to me when others resonate with my efforts.  Helping other artists and musicians to reach their own goals for their recordings in a respectful and often collaborative way is an incredible privilege and is the overarching purpose of this venture.

Thus far, this work has been “invitation only” with the anticipation of a “soft opening” in 2022.  That said, do get in touch at deftesoterica@gmail.com if you have a project you would like me to consider taking on.
